Govindamma Chattergoon September 14, 1933 - April 11, 2021

Amoy as she was affectionately known grew up in the southern suburb of Clairwood in Durban, South Africa.  She was the only daughter amongst four brothers. Amoy married Jerry at the early age of 20 on April 5th, 1953 and they moved to the South Coast town of Umkomaas.

They had five children, all of whom eventually emigrated to Australia and New Zealand. In 1999 Amoy and Jerry decided to join their family and also emigrated to New Zealand.

Family was Amoy’s priority so she often travelled between Australia and New Zealand to spend time with them. This happened less frequently as her illness advanced and required specialized care.
