Rumendra Prasad was born a third child of Late Mr Shiu Prasad and Late Mrs Krishna Kumari of Waimari, Raki Raki, Fiji on October 13, 1963. He was educated at Waimari, Penang, Khalsa College and completed his Electronics Diploma at FIT. He worked at the Penang Sugar Mill for over 10 years then moved to New Zealand where he got his further qualification in Electronics Engineering. He progressed in his career to a General Manager at HP Printing Operations.
He married in 1990 and has two sons. He was selfless in his commitment and dedication to his family, where his children and many of his nephews and nieces benefited from his assistance and guidance. As a result, he was famously known as RC (Rumma Chacha). He lived with his mother and diligently looked after her until her passing.
In 2017, he made a long trip to India and as an avid cricket fan, he ensured that he watch a match between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Cricket Stadium, Mumbai. He also did a pilgrimage of 12 Jyotirlingas spread across the Indian sub-continent, a feat that very few accomplish.
RC was fun-loving and easy-going, enjoyed his beer, sports and politics.
He was loved by everyone he connected with.
Rumendra will be sadly missed and will forever be in our memory.
