Mr. Suruj Narayan also known as Jai Chand was born on 30/12/1941 in Nacokaika, Nausori, Fiji. He was the last surviving son of late Mr Chotu and Mrs. Ram Rati and had 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
He moved to Nawaicoba, Nadi then moved to Saru, Lautoka where he raised his family. In 2002 he migrated to Auckland, New Zealand where he spent the rest of his life.
Suruj married his dedicated and loving wife Bhimla Wati of Tawatawa, Saru, Lautoka on 25/08/1963 and had 4 daughters Pravish, Prawin, Ateshni and Keshni.
In Fiji he worked as labourer in the sugar cane fields, then as a gardener for the local Judge, Magistrate and at the Lautoka Old People’s Home. He enjoyed spending time with people sharing stories, jokes and was loved by family and friends.
During his retirement he moved to Auckland where he spent time with his loving family including his daughters, sons-in-law Ashok Lal, James Singh, Nirmal Singh and Susen Malik and grandchildren Prianna Lal, Avineel Lal, Jessica Singh, Justin Singh, Navneel Singh, Ravneel Singh, Monish Malik and Krishiv Malik.
We will always cherish our memories with our Taji and Nana and he will remain in our hearts forever.
